We then briefly discussed my “1/4 life crisis”, and how at 19 years old, I lost everything I had ever worked for, and how at 22 I found myself driving around a golf cart as a Security Guard…
Internet Marketing was really the only thing that had gotten me through those brutally tough times giving me a ray of hope for a brighter future.
Then we touched on the subtle magic of the trial offer, and how in using a trial offer in my business, I was able to 4x the amount of sales I made literally instantly.
And finally, I eluded to the fact that in todays e-mail I was going to share with you a secret…
Something that most of the bigtime gurus don’t want you to know, and something that most likely will make me a few enemies in sharing.
So, let’s dive in my Padawan…
That first little breakthrough I shared yesterday (Tapping into a trial offer) was key in rekindling my hope and dreams for a brighter future…
My dreams for abundance and freedom…
And my dreams to be able to take true control over my destiny.
But I wasn’t out of my hole yet…
Not by a long shot.
See, while I had figured out how to create more customers and sales, I had yet to figure out how to do it profitably (which is in the end, all that really \matters).
I had spent a few more thousand dollars, and was down to my last dimes.
Unable to pay rent, I was evicted from the home I was living on on Maui, HI, and forced to move 1/2 way across the country to live in a tiny little apartment in the middle of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
I was putting in non-stop 12-14 hour days, yet nothing was happening.
That little spark of hope was beginning to dwindle, as I worked harder and harder, still unable to truly grasp the overarching “full picture”.
…And this time, I couldn’t take the pain.
The depression had been too deep for too long, and I couldn’t let myself go back to that low state of mind. I honestly felt that if I did, chances are I would never get out.
So, I turned to pain medication to numb my pain.
With my health issues that I had been dealing with the previous years, I was able to get more or less any medication I wanted, whenever I wanted.
One trip to the doctor and I was loaded up on some of the worst of the worst.
I’d wake up in the morning, drink 2 cups of coffee, take an Oxycoden, and sit down in front of my computer in my tiny little room in the middle of the dessert.
Success had seemed SO CLOSE just a few short months ago, yet now I was back to yet another rock bottom.
I was creating customers, and doing so regularly, but I was still losing money hand over fist.
I had just had to borrow even more money from my dad, and was in no way, shape of form proud of the man I was becoming.
23 years old, completely broke, abusing pain medication, and borrowing money from my father… One of the people who constantly told me to give up on my dream of making milli.ons online.
Not exactly the future I had dreamed of a few short years earlier as I won one tennis tournament after another in an almost effortless fashion.
But, here I was…
…And as crazy as it seems, I still wasn’t ready to quit.
Now if you’ve been in this industry for any period of time, I’m sure you’ve heard leaders talk about the importance of attending live events.
How they’re where the magic happens, and how they’re where you find your breakthroughs, one way or another.
Well, to put it bluntly… they truly are where the magic happens.
…But at the time, I was still skeptical.
I wasn’t drinking that kool-aid quite yet, and just didn’t quite buy the whole “get to events” ra ra.
I wanted to earn enough money with my business to be able to pay to go to the events.
It made sense in theory, but with 20/20 hindsight, it’s totally backwards thinking…
I remember it pretty clearly actually… That moment that I had my “aha” moments about events.
I registered for a webinar with Tim Erway (or TJ) and the Elite Marketing Pro gang, where they ended Up promoting their live event, The No Excuses Summit.
Still, skeptical, I didn’t budge… Listening in on the webinar in my 110 degree apartment, struggling to make ends meet, yet still resisting the advice of my mentors.
Then TJ said something that I’ll never forget, and something that immediately got me to pull out my credit card and buy…
“You’re probably telling yourself, I’m going to wait until I make enough money with my business in order to pay to go to the events.
The truth is that the only reason that you’re not making the kind of money that you want to in your business, is because you’re not getting to the events.”
All of a sudden it was crystal clear, and I understood that I needed to get to an event.
I spent my last few dollars to buy a one way ticket and book my hotel room (which I ended up sharing with a fellow attendee).
Although I was there, I was still skeptical, and sat in the very back of the room… wondering whether or not these guys had good intentions.
Then, about a day in, it happened. I learned ONE vital lesson that changed it all.
Tim was on stage, pointing to a sales funnel, repeating “this is the ONE sales funnel that’s making me millions of dollars every single year”…
“This is the ONE sales funnel that’s making me millions of dollars every single year”…
“This is the ONE sales funnel that’s making me millions of dollars every single year”
And while it looked much like mine, there was something different, and something that Tim immediately pointed out.
While he had a capture page similar to mine, and a front end offer similar to mine, there was one thing in his funnel that I didn’t have… and something that he made very clear would either make or break your success.
As he pointed to the one portion of the sales funnel that I had yet to get into place, he said…
“These offers that come after the first sale are called one click up-sells. They’re the difference between being profitable with your business, and losing money.
A buyer is a buyer is a buyer is a buyer, and the first sale is ALWAYS the hardest. 95% of all of Your revenue will come from making sales to repeat buyers. Create a buyer, and then have a solid one click up-sell sequence in place, and you can’t go wrong.”
Like a ton of bricks, it hit me, and I immediately knew what my problem was.
While I was crushing it with my front end sales, I was earning NOTHING on the backend, and as a result, I was leaving literally all of my profits on the table.
Now pay attention, and focus with me for just a few more minutes, as this is a lesson that most of the big time gurus don’t what you to know…
Literally ALL of your profits will come from repeat sales to existing customers… People who have already bought from you once, and whom you have fulfilled for in a positive manner.
What tends to happen, is that the big time guru will set you up with “100% commissions” on the front end and then pocket 100% of all of the profits from the backend, while you do all of the work.
It’s an unfair playing field, and to be honest, a game that you have NO CHANCE of winning.
I took action fast, found an offer that I could promote with a strong backend one click up-sell sequence… And put my foot back on the pedal.
I immediately saw sales and profits, and within just a few short months, had my first $5,000 month.
All because I tapped into the immense power of offering more products and services to existing customers, vs. focusing on trying to create more and more customers.
STOP focusing on trying to make more and more initial sales, and instead focus making more sales to existing customers.
If you do you’ll immediately double your businesses profits, or if you’re just starting your journey, have the right mindset from day #1.
Use this lesson, and I guarantee you that good things will happen.
Now having said that, you might be saying to yourself, $5,000 a month doesn’t equal a six figure income Misha.”
And to that I’ll say, you’re absolutely right.
