One Lesson That Changed It All…
I want to take a moment here today and share with you a little “behind the scenes” look into what it feels like to run a multi-million dollar business…
…More specifically though, the struggles and frustrations that I STILL deal with on a daily basis…
…And a lesson that ended up changing everything for me when I ran with it.
See, earlier this morning I was taking some time out of the day to record a new video sales letter…
It was only about 25 minutes long in total, and I had practiced running through in about 4 or 5 times, but today I still couldn’t seem to execute to save my life.
I’d get through a slide and a half, stumble over a couple of words, and then have to stop and edit.
I’d start again, and then about 15 seconds later I’d trip up over myself and have to start over.
All in all it ended up taking about an hour and a half to get done, and by the end of it I had had to catch myself about 5 times from putting my fist through the computer screen.
But, at the end of the day it got done.
…And actually, it’s not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
In the past, this is the kind of thing that would have kept me from completing the task.
I would have come up with some kind of excuse somewhere along the lines of “well I don’t seem to quite have it today”, or, “maybe I should just save this for tomorrow and focus on something else today”…
But about a year ago a mentor shared with me one sentence that completely and totally changed the way I looked at completing activities in my business, and something that will benefit you immensely if you run with it.
That sentence, “Perfect is the enemy of done.”
At the time I had been struggling to complete a project based on dealing with perfectionism.
I felt as if everything had to be “just right” if I were to launch it, and I kept making small changes trying to make it better only to create more problems that I needed to fix.
Then I heard that sentence, and it hit me like a ton of bricks…
If I was EVER going to complete ANYTHING, most likely it wouldn’t be perfect the first time, and if I tried to get it perfect, I’d never get it off the ground.
I took my mentors advice, got my new project off the ground FAST (and imperfect), and as a result we’ve now done just over 1.5 million dollars in sales in just over the last 6 months alone.
That project was The Super Affiliate Network, and to date it’s my biggest success.
Imagine if I would have waited to get it “perfect”.
Imagine if I would have hesitated.
Imagine if I wouldn’t have taken action based on not being able to get out of my own way.
What a waste that would have been.
What’s amazing about this industry is that I’m a FIRM BELIEVER that just ONE good idea can make you almost an INSTANT millionaire.
I believed it before I launched The Super Affiliate Network, but now, well let’s just say I believe it a little bit more. 😉
My advice to you…
Look at everything you’ve been doing in your business and try to identify which areas you’ve been putting off executing on.
Look at whether or not it may be due to a little bit of perfectionism, and then realize one thing.
It’ll NEVER be perfect anyway.
There will ALWAYS be problems that come up that you have to account for on the fly, and there will ALWAYS be a certain level of frustration… It’s part of the journey and comes along with the title of “Entrepreneur”.
Expect it, take imperfect action, and get to work.
If you do you’ll see a radical transformation in your results and bottomline…
And I can say from personal experience that life will be just a little bit more fun… 😉
To the top,
Misha Wilson
