When you create a video for your blog, who are you talking to? When you create an ad of Facebook, who do you want to click that ad and opt in to your list? When you post a video on Youtube and spend countless hours on keyword research and back-links to ensure your video will get traffic, who do you want to watch that video?

If you can’t answer any of these questions, you have a major whole in your overall Marketing strategy: YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHO YOUR CUSTOMER AVATAR IS. You have nobody in mind that you’re talking directly to when you create content, ads, or e-mails.

And thats a major problem.

Let me ask you something. Have you ever opened up an e-mail from a REALLY GOOD Marketer, and as you’re reading it, it feels as if that Marketer is speaking DIRECTLY TO YOU? Guess what?… It’s because THEY ARE. It’s because YOU’RE that Marketers “Ideal Prospect”, or “Customer Avatar”, and they have strategically geared their Marketing material towards your wants, needs, pains, fears, pleasures, ect.

More or less, they’ve done their research. They know exactly what it’s like to live a day in YOUR LIFE. They know exactly what emotional triggers set you off, and exactly what triggers turn you on. And they gear all of their Marketing Material towards aggravating those triggers in a certain fashion which in turn leads to a sale. 

Maybe they’ll talk about that damn alarm clock that keeps waking you up at 6AM, or that terrible boss that you can’t stand the thought of working another day for… Or maybe the fact that you don’t get to spend enough time with your friends and family. Then they’ll smoothly and effectively point you in the direction of their product as a cure to your pain.

But there’s something critical to take away here: If that Marketer didn’t have his customer avatar or ideal prospect mapped out and clearly identified, there would be know way for him to speak to their pains or pleasures. There would be know way to leverage humar emotion in order to manufacture a sale.

Sales are almost always tied directly to human emotion. The girl that wants that new dress wants that dress because she thinks she’ll look better and more attractive wearing it, thus making her feel better and more confident. The guy who buys the information product about how to make money online is most likely in some sort of financial or lifestyle (maybe lack of time) stress, which he’s looking to cure by learning how to make money online. They guy who buys a new Kitesurfing rig is doing so because he believes Kitesurfing will be a fun new hobby which will bring more excitement and pleasure into his life.

The point is, without human emotion, there’s no sale. How many of you know someone who is EXTREMELY DEPRESSED? Are they chomping at the bit to purchase a kitesurfing rig or new dress? Are they actively searching for solutions such as information products about how to make money online?

NO. Why? Because they don’t care enough. They’re emotions are too subdued to think about anything besides basic survival and their issues.

Now as a side-note, I’m not trying to take a shot at anyone who may be depressed. I’ve been there myself, and that’s the only reason I know what it feels like not to care. It’s no fun.

I’m just trying to make a point about just how important human emotion is when it comes to making a sale.

So, to tie things up, realize that the most effective way to produce a ton of sales is to learn how to influence peoples emotions at a deep level. It’s going to take practice, and it’s going to take time to master, but once you’ve learned how to do so, you can literally write your own 7 figure check.

Realize this though: It all starts with KNOWING YOUR CUSTOMER AVATAR OR IDEAL PROSPECT, and communicating directly to them. When you write an e-mail to your e-mail list, you shouldn’t be writing that e-mail to 10,000 people. You should be writing it to ONE PERSON, and ONE PERSON ONLY. You’re Ideal Prospect. Then send it to your list of 10,000, and however many individuals you have on your list which match your profile for your ideal prospect will most likely be the amount of sales you make.

Remember, its better to make one or two sales than none… and when you try to talk to everyone, chances are no-one will listen or buy. When you write to a specific individual though, your ideal prospect, and you can influence them based on emotion because you know where they’re coming from, the sales will flow effortlessly.
