The “Passive Income” LIE…

So on my last few blog posts, I’ve created a few pieces of “real talk” content, where I’ve exposed a few outright lies and where I’ve been brutally honest in the process.

In the spirit of keeping that trend going, today I want to talk about yet another one of biggest LIES perpetuated through our entire industry…

And something that keeps people on the never ending roller coaster of “yo yo” income.

That lie…

The lie having to do with “Passive Income” being real, and even beyond that, something that we should all aspire for.

The truth is, that as much as we may want there to be, there’s no such thing as TRUE passive income.

We would all agree that it takes work to build a successful business that produces income…

And the truth is, IF you have the intention of keeping it, it definitely takes work to maintain it.

That’s what the big-time gurus AREN’T actually telling you…

The simple truth that if you want to keep it, you better NOT be passive about it.

Quick story to prove my point…

When I first started to see success online, I joined one of the bigger popular Online Network Marketing companies.

It was my goal to build a passive income.

I worked REALLY hard on building that business, and did everything I was supposed to.

I drove traffic, wrote e-mails, got on new member welcome calls, and hosted team calls.

I did it all.

I ended up building the business up to where I was a top 100 earner in the company.

Nothing huge…

But please note that this was a company with around 200,000 people in it, so top 100 wasn’t terrible either.

I built it up to around a $7,000 per month healthy paycheck…

And then I decided to get “passive” with it.

I mean, that was the whole point right…

To build something that I could build up, and then step away from and let continue to run.

So, that’s exactly what I did.

I stopped hosting the calls, doing the 1-1’s, sending the e-mails, and driving the traffic.

I was ready to kick back on the beach and drink Pina coladas on the beach.

The results…

Within 6 weeks, near everyone had left the team, they all found other newer opportunities…

…And my income went from $7,000 per month to $0.

Look, the truth is, that if you want to keep the income you want to build long term, you have to put just as much work into keeping it as you did in building it in the first place.

It’s kinda like staying in shape…

You wouldn’t expect to eat well and work out for a few months…

Get in really good shape, and then be able to stop completely and maintain your fitness levels.

Just a quickly as I lost my monthly paycheck…

You’d lose your muscle definition and gain back the love handle.

Your online business is no different.

Treat it passively, and it’ll produce passively.

Treat it like a business, and it’ll produce like a business.
