Why I’m Getting Serious About Facebook Marketing…
I’ll be honest and upfront with you. Up until just recently I had kept myself out of the Facebook Ads game intentionally. Why? It’s simple, and the logic makes sense actually… You don’t complete control over your traffic when you rely solely on Facebook for traffic and lead generation. What do I mean here? Well the truth is that Facebook doesn’t really love Internet/Network Marketers. And with Facebook now being the goliath ad-source they are, they really don’t need, or even want us Internet/Network Marketers business. This leaves us vulnerable to having our accounts shut down at any given time for no good reason, and leaves us vulnerable to having our entire business’s ripped out from underneath us IF WE FOCUS SOLELY ON FACEBOOK.
And I’m not just saying this out of theory… Just take a look at the Google Adwords disaster that occurred a few years back which resulted in some of the biggest names in our industry going out of business VERY QUICKLY.
So having said all this, why on earth would I start to get serious about Facebook Marketing?
Well, to put it bluntly, it’s too powerful to ignore. Even if at some point in the future Facebook cracks down, I want to be sure I take advantage of the gold rush while its occurring instead of just sitting on the sideline.
So what do I see that has changed my mind? There are 5 reasons in particular:
1. The Ability To Connect With Your Audience Through Multiple Medium….
The ability to build your brand and connect with your e-mail list and audience in an extremely powerful manner. It’s not hard to setup a simple “Fbook Likes” campaign targeting ONLY YOUR CURRENT e-mail list to get them to like your page and agree to receiving your status updates and content. Usually you can find about 65% of the people on your e-mail list on Facebook, which now gives us the power to talk with MORE THAN 1/2 of our existing audience through 2 different mediums. It’s no secret that e-mail open rates are at an all time low right now, and the truth is that the only way to get those up is to build a powerful relationship with your e-mail list so they WANT and LOOK FORWARD to opening your e-mails and devouring your content. Connecting with your e-mail list through Facebook as well as e-mail gives you MORE than double the chance to connect and resonate with your prospect, in turn leading to more sales (I’ll show you why we have more than 2x the chance in the second). Also, people are in a different mood when their on Facebook vs. when their checking their e-mails. Someone is much more likely to buy from you through E-MAIL MARKETING… But people are much more likely to take some time out of their day to watch your video, read your blog post, ect. while they’re casually surfing Facebook. Lets just say their in “chill mode”, which is a great mode to have your prospect in for relationship building purposes.
2. PROMOTED POSTS…Â
Unlike e-mail, where you hit send and then wait and see what kind of open rate it receives (usually dismal nowadays) with little power over the situation, Facebook is different. With the promoted posts function, you can quickly and easily pay a meager $7 to have your content be distributed out to ALL of your Facebook fans instantly via the newsfeed. Now while you might be hesitant to pay to have your posts promoted, think of the longterm effect it has on your business when 3 or 4 times a week ALL of your e-mail list (now Facebook fans) see and devour your content. It’ll cost you less than an entree and a few drinks at a decent resteraunt, but the relationship value you’ll build by constantly being in front of you target prospect over lets say a month or two period will literally be priceless to your business. It’s like being able to tell Gmail that for $7 you want 100% of your subscribers to open your e-mail. Thats insane!
3. TARGETINGÂ
Lets just put it this way: FACEBOOK IS A FRICKEN DATA MONSTER… And what this means to you is that you can narrow down your target audience for your ads to a more precise level than you’ve EVER been able to with ANY other advertising medium. With the specific interests and custom audience tools I could easily choose to target lets say only fans of Jonathan Budd, Tim Erway, and Daegan Smith, and to make sure that the audience is over 28, is financially well off, and has been to a live event. Now is that insane targeting or what? Our target audience is now fans of 3 different industry leaders, over a certain age, well off financially, and serious enough about the profession to get to a live event. That’s insanity.
4. CONTROLÂ
With Fbook Ads you have TOTAL CONTROL over how your ads look, what your ads say, and where people view your ads (either the newsfeed or in the right sidebar). This allows you to be 100% congruent with your optin page and with your offer, and will boost your conversions of both clicks to leads, and leads to sales. Remember, the key to high conversion rates is congruency, 100%. Unfortunately with lets say Solo Ads or PPV Marketing, you can give away one layer of control of this congruency. I’ve found that lately many Solo Ad providers will disgard your swipe copy (which should be congruent with your squeeze page and sales page, and replace it with a blind swipe to increase their click thru rates. With PPV, you don’t even have an ad, your website simply pops up when someone visits a certain URL that you’re targeting. It’s my firm belief that when you can take your prospect through the process of them actually seeing an ad that they resonate with, clicking, going to a congruent capture page and then congruent offer, your sales conversions will be MUCH GREATER. Facebook allows you to do this and gives you total control.
5. RETARGETING.
Quite possibly the most powerful new trend in the Internet Marketing world, it’s said that retargeting can increase your conversion rates by as much as 400%! So if you’re sales page is converting at 2% to cold traffic, you could quite possibly see that number jump to a whopping 8% with an effective retargeting campaign. Now that’s huge… because hopefully if your offer is good, that 2% conversion rate is self liquidating your advertising costs… So when you’re 2% conversion rate jumps to 8%, you just added 75% MORE PROFIT to your business’s bottom line. So to put it bluntly, if you’re not retargeting, START RIGHT NOW.Â
So… These are the reasons why I personally am diving headfirst into Facebook ads while I still can. Realize this, Facebook will only continue to become more strict and more mean to us Marketers in the “opportunity niche”, which means that in 2 or 3 years, it might be too late to cash in on the Facebook goldmine. Take it seriously, and get started with Fbook now!
